7.28.14 Update and Dedication – Erik

Erik is the man of the day! Dan and I have loved spending the last few of days with Erik and his parents Nancy and Bryan and appreciate all they’ve done. KTVZ came out to the Paslay’s home for an interview today and Erik was amazing!
See the video here that was aired on the 11 pm news in Bend. http://www.ktvz.com/news/kid-cycles-now-running-across-country-for-obscure-syndrome/27199082 …. That was the big news for the day!

“This is my 9-year-old son Erik. His favorite things are light bulbs and sprinklers. He is taking drum lessons, is in the church choir, and loves making people laugh (including me). He can ride a 2-wheeled bike and is learning to read music. He is also turning out to be a pretty talented story teller. He is a joy to travel with or go on outings with. Taking him anywhere is always an adventure, and he knows more people in town than I do.” I have to agree with Nancy, Erik is totally awesome and I loved getting to know him. I will miss you Buddy!!!!

This is it, Dan and I are ready for the next adventure. We head out tomorrow and will head North to Redmond and Prineville. After that across Rt 26, the John Day Hwy. It is spotted with tiny towns so should be nice!

Dan is pulling this on the trailer behind the bike. Beef Jerky - breakfast of champions... Bowman and Roemer would be so proud : )

Plenty of storage space in the Thule Cougar II. They even donated the stroller in "WS Green" !

Check it out,,, the stroller has a bug net to keep the baby bug free, and to keep her in. The floor space has the hammock, sleeping bag, food, clothes etc. Lots of space...

Another view of the inside of the stroller. More space that I thought it would have. It is great!!!!

  1. Enjoyed the news clip. You both have a ton of support pouring in from the community. Both of you are an inspiration to everyone who hears what Kevin has accomplished and what you will both accomplish together. You are in everyone prayers for a safe trip back.

  2. We just came across this story today while looking at Z21 online. You are doing an amazing thing to raise awareness for a syndrome that many have never heard of. Our daughter was dignosed at 5 weeks and is now a beautiful amazing child with the biggest heart! We can never thank you enough for doing what your doing and for bringing awareness to Williams!!!! It is nice to know were not alone in this journey.

  3. We enjoyed meeting Keven at our daughter Nancy’s place. John was very concerned about the Oregon desert, and steered the guys north. They’ll go through some of our favorite camping country. They’ll see the incredible beauty of our part of Oregon, as well as the devastation nature can wreak on our forests. It’s amazing how fast recovery comes.
Kevin and Dan are in our thoughts– as Brian said, we’re proud of them!
